Treasury yields jumped Tuesday to their highest level in a week, with the 10-year posting its largest one-day yield gain in two years after falling for four straight days, as Wall Street staged a failed rally.
Bonds closed prior U.S. stocks turning decidedly lower Tuesday, swinging to a triple-digit loss in the Dow Jones Industrial Average after spending much of the day sharply higher.
The yield on the 10-year Treasury broke above 2.10% after dropping on Monday below 2% for the first time in nearly four months.
The 10-year yield closed 13.6 basis points higher on the day at 2.133%, the largest one-day yield gain since July 5, 2013. The yield closed at 1.997% on Monday, its lowest point since April 28, and has shaved off around 35 basis points since early June.
